Model Proposal For A Monumental Failure: The Future, mixed media (refuse and other found objects, spray paint, wood base), 50" x51" x14", 2011.

Ostensibly a mock-up proposal for a civic statue, this sculpture is an ode to failure of all sorts, personal, societal, environmental, etc. A homunculus made of refuse, it is hypothetically meant to be cast in metal and placed on a pedestal in the village square as an anti-monument to all the failures of modern civilization, especially the failure of the present to imagine its own bright future. But, it is also meant as a celebration of failure, to acknowledge something that is generally taboo in a capitalist society and something we are all more familiar with than we publicly admit.
